The Regional Drugs Testing Laboratory (RDTL) Guwahati is one of five national laboratories in India dedicated to quality control of drugs and cosmetics. Established in 2002, this esteemed laboratory operates under the Indian Drugs & Cosmetics Act, 1940 and functions under the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI), a subdivision of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.
Currently, RDTL Guwahati is inviting applications for the Senior Scientific Officer (SSO) position, a Group A, Non-Ministerial post with a lucrative salary package ranging from Rs. 67,700 to Rs. 2,08,700. This is a deputation-based opportunity with a tenure of up to three years.

Educational Qualifications (Essential)
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in one of the following disciplines:
- Chemistry

Work Experience
- Minimum of six years of experience in drug testing, standardization, and research.
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctorate in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacology, Bacteriology, Medicine, Microbiology, or Biotechnology.
Service Experience Requirements
Eligible candidates must be officers from Central/State Government, Union Territories, autonomous/statutory organizations, PSUs, Universities, or recognized research institutions:
- Currently holding an analogous post on a regular basis.
- With at least five years of service in Level-10 (Rs. 56,100 – 1,77,500) pay matrix.
- Or, with eight years of regular service in Level-8 (Rs. 47,600 – 1,51,100) pay matrix.
Age Limit
- Maximum age for deputation: 56 years (as of the closing date for application submission).
